Through New Eyes: The Next Generation of Photographers and the Avalanche Project:

Within the framework of the annual workshop organized by the Heritage Lab for students of ISIA Torino, one session (20th march) was dedicated to the preservation of digital resources and their publication. In particular, the EU Avalanche project was presented as an example of distributed and remote heritage, virtually reconstructed through digital technologies. Dr. Carlo Bruno illustrated the digital technologies used for the description of resources—specifically the xDamsplatform, the same one used by Heritage Lab—as well as the methodologies for collecting and sharing information.

Heritage Lab is an excellence in digital management of culturale heritage, during the study week students will be introduced to the methods of description, inventorying, and digitization of the Company’s archive.
This includes the cataloguing of library volumes, periodicals from the newspaper archive, photographs, and museum collections—also accessible through virtual reality experiences—as well as the 3D scanning of archaeological artefacts discovered during excavations for the installation of gas distribution networks
