Teaching the Holocaust through Museums: the contribution of Xenia Eleftheriou, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

On January 21th the event “Teaching Memory: Literature and the Holocaust” and online Educational Workshop, was implemented in collaboration with the Museum of School Life and Education.

It took place at 17:00, via Zoom.

Dr. Xenia Eleftheriou her a lecture entitled “Teaching the Holocaust through Museums.” , the lecture was delivered within the framework of the Avalanche Project and drew on Dr Eleftheriou’s professional capacities as Scientific Director of the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki and Academic Director of the Jewish Museum of Rhodes.

The lecture reached a total of 484 participants. Audience engagement was particularly strong, with a lively discussion following the presentation, including questions and dialogue between participants and the speaker.In her lecture, Dr Eleftheriou highlighted the use of testimonies and digital tools in the teaching and public presentation of the Holocaust, while also addressing broader questions of memory and representation.
