Goodbye Salonikki

Goodbye Thessaloniki, these wonderful days of study and friendship have come to an end, and with them we also bring to a close the Avalanche project, which over the past two years has allowed us to share many meaningful experiences and accomplish everything we had set out to do.

But Thessaloniki is also a city that welcomed us with its human warmth and its ancient spirit—something you can feel everywhere, not only in its museums and historical sites, but also in street corners and even in the metro.

One photograph more than any other tells and summarizes the journey of the Avalanche project: the monument to women in war, a statue dedicated to the courage and strength of women during the Second World War. It is an image that reflects the deeper meaning of our shared path—memory, resilience, and responsibility across generations.

Our final farewell coincided with the International Marathon, another reminder of the ancient roots of this land and its people—those of Alexander the Great.
